About the Ramp™ -
Gin Miller unveiled a totally new direction in
fitness in 2004 with The Ramp™ exercise device. A revolutionary
form of exercise that utilizes the muscles of the hips, glutes
and hamstrings, Ramping™ is an easy-to-learn basic exercise
that will revitalize cardio fitness for all ages and fitness
levels.
“While
other cardio activities mostly tax the front of the legs, Ramping™ focuses
on the back of the legs,” said Miller. “The Ramping™ technique
is like nothing else out there. It's the first cardio exercise
to use a backward-dominated motion.”
The Ramping™ technique consists of dynamic pressing and
lunging sequences against an adjustable inclined surface, performed
to upbeat music. The variable intensity of this high-energy,
low-impact workout depends on the easily applied increased range
of motion, music tempo and the degree of incline of The Ramp™ exercise
device.
In a constant interchange of acceleration and deceleration,
the rear muscles must handle the backward movement each time
the leg “pushes away” off The Ramp™ exercise
device. Since the Ramping™ technique is derived from the
basic lunge, it provides a high-calorie burn.
“The Ramping™ technique utilizes the natural human motion of walking
forward, and combines it with the opposing action of walking backward” explained
Miller.
Club professionals and their members will find
that the Ramping™ system fills the need for a new and exciting
fitness activity that reignites interest in cardio exercise.
Because the Ramping™ technique uses gravity
and body weight as resistance, workouts are manageable and the
participants (each of whom works on The Ramp™ exercise
device of their own and in the “comfort zone” of
their own space) are always in control.
As it fires mostly the rear muscles, Miller sums
up the Ramping™ system’s most visible benefit: “It’s
like sending yourself to ‘booty camp.’” Because
one foot is kept in close contact with the floor most of the
time, impact and joint stress are kept to a minimum.
The Ramp™ exercise device made its debut at the IHRSA trade
show in February 2003 and the Ramp Company discontinued production of the club version in the fall of 2006.
Used Ramps may be available on either Amazon or Ebay. Another place to inquire would be the Video
