Balanced Progressive Strength -

Join Gin as she leads Personal Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors through progressions to build balance, core strength and grace. Challenge your notions of functional strength!

OVERVIEW
Balanced Progressive Strength is a method of resistance training that trains your body as a whole, not a sum of its parts. The legs, arms and trunk are working in concert with each other in planes of movements that create a resilient, strong and mobile body. This super-efficient, functionally-targeted training program focuses on the concept of balance – between opposing muscle groups, primary movers and stabilizers, and between strength and flexibility.

The goal is to develop balanced reactive strength that effectively responds in everyday function, thereby minimizing risk of injury – be it sudden or traumatic injuries due to falls, or longer developing overuse injuries that may occur as a result of training imbalances. This program can be performed with a wide variety of equipment options – stability balls, free weights, tubes, weighted bars, or just body weight.  Participants in this workshop will take away multiple workout options and an understanding of how to apply this balance-focused functional strength program.

Course Objectives:

To develop an understanding of the meaning of balance in fitness:  between mobility and stability, strength and flexibility, and opposing muscle groups.

To develop an understanding of safe and effective progressions in balanced strength training designed to enhance movement and everyday function.

To provide a systematic approach that enables the participant to teach with a confidence a progressive program suited to a variety of fitness levels.

Advanced Interval with Circuit Training -

Personal Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors will learn how to set up energetic, challenging and fun intervals that will help members move past plateaus. Gin Miller is an expert at developing functional movement patterns into exciting workouts.

OVERVIEW
Advanced Interval with Circuit Training is a class format that involves a combination of both circuit and interval conditioning. This highly effective training is often referred to as Circuit Interval Conditioning, and requires participants to exercise through a selection of exercise modalities, while incorporating rest intervals between modes.

Advanced Interval with Circuit Training is a strenuous combination of cardiovascular strength, with effort intervals = >85% maximal heart rate, and muscular endurance, with repetitions of 18-22 per resistance exercise. Using principles from these two methods of exercise conditioning stressing the anaerobic and aerobic energy systems, results in an advanced training program.

Course Objectives:

To develop an understanding of the goals and benefits of different types of interval training programs, with specific emphasis on the components of the advanced interval cardio format combined with a strength circuit.

To develop an understanding of the various ratios, controls and intensity monitoring means suitable for a group fitness setting.

To develop a systematic approach in teaching an advanced format with intensity layered options, appropriate recovery, and effective strength exercises in order to provide a safe and beneficial exercise experience for advanced participants.
